Make your very own AI-generated Pokémon-like creature

#artificialintelligence

After nine generations of Pokémon, it can sometimes feel like the game developers are just pulling random words from a hat and seeing what they come up with. I still can't decide if Klefki, the sentient keyring Pokémon, is a stroke of genius or madness. Justin Pinkney, a machine learning researcher at Lambda Labs, created a "text to Pokémon" generator by fine-tuning Stable Diffusion, an AI image generator that functions in the same vein as DALL-E 2. Fine tuning #stablediffusion to make Pokemon! I wrote a quick guide on fine tuning your own Stable Diffusion: https://t.co/hLWrOjEPTm I also released my Pokemon model, you can try it out on Replicate: https://t.co/3sVQrk54wZ

It's hard being an open-world Pokémon fan

Washington Post - Technology News

It appears as though "Scarlet" and "Violet" take heavy inspiration from that game; some open-world traveling features teased for the two upcoming games, like flying, appear nearly identical in function and animation to their "Arceus" counterpart. It's still unclear if "Scarlet" and "Violet's" catching mechanics will take inspiration from "Arceus," which included not just the classic catching mechanics involving turn-based battling, weakening and throwing a Poké Ball, but also a "Pokémon Go"-like hybrid that involved sneaking up and throwing a perfectly aimed Poké Ball before the battle even began. "Scarlet" and "Violet's" battles and UI were only briefly showcased during the Pokémon Presents.

'Pokémon Legends Arceus' is the game mainline Pokémon fans have been begging for

Washington Post - Technology News

From the short clips in the trailer and the Pokémon Presents live stream Feb. 26, we can see that the mechanic for capturing Pokémon is similar to that of the "Let's Go, Pikachu" and "Let's Go, Eevee" series. Wild Pokémon roam the open world. Instead of tiring out Pokémon through the tried-and-true battle system, players simply toss a Pokéball, aiming to clear certain precision and timing benchmarks. Moreover, catching Pokémon is now seamlessly integrated into the open world, a first for the series. The battle system -- which looks relatively unchanged from the mainline games -- appears to be returning, alongside some new features, like rolling and sneaking through tall grass to get the jump on unsuspecting Pokémon.
